Facebook finally rolled out it's new timeline feature a few weeks ago, some love it, some hate it. Either way, with it's introduction comes a discreet new feature that can be cause of entertainment between friends. You now have the ability to make wall posts on past dates, going as far back as the person's birthday to be exact. Just follow these very simple steps and you'll be trolling in no time!

First, go to a friend's profile that actually has the timeline feature (not everyone has it enabled).

For this example, I'll be using my own profile and a status update instead of a wall post. The same process is used.

Now, under the wall post option, there is a little clock icon, click it, and you can set a date for your posting.

That's it! It really is that simple. Just choose a date, and click "Post" just like any other Facebook wall post.

Just remember, you must use a date that the person was alive for (i.e. their birth is January 1st, 1980, you cannot post something on December 15th, 1950).

It's always fun to pretend to be sending friends messages from the past, if only this worked on people without timeline. I would avoid using this for malicious purposes though, such as 9/11 related things, which I am sure have already been tried and tested hundreds of time by now.

I have gotten only one notification so far from a friend posting on my timeline in the past. The notification looks just like any other wall post notification, except it has a date attached to it within the notification itself, just in case anyone was curious.
